On November 13, 1916, a historic endeavor commenced, heralding a transformation in the educational landscape of North Karnataka. This momentous day marked the establishment of the inaugural institution under the auspices of the Karnataka Lingayat Education (KLE) Society. The visionary founders, revered as the “Saptarishis,” pledged their unwavering commitment to education, instilled with noble ideals and boundless imagination, leading to the inception of the KLE Society.

The sponsoring society of the KLE Academy of higher Education and Research, Deemed-to-be-University, Belagavi is the KLE Society, Belagavi.  The KLE Society was established in 1916, and has over the years established itself as a rising star in the field of education and healthcare.

The KLE Society celebrated its centenary year in 2015-16. This occasion was graced by Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji. The KLE Society is unique in its character as it was formed by seven visionary and dedicated teachers “Saptarshis” with philanthropic support from three generous Patrons. It is also unique in its association and governance, as it runs purely on democratic values and principles with a charitable objective. The Society has undergone rapid metamorphosis in the last 35 years as it has bloomed and blossomed from 35 institutions then to more than 309 institutions now all over the country under the visionary leadership of  Hon. Chancellor Dr.Prabhakar Kore now  which in itself is an inspirational achievement.

The KLE society is an embodiment of perseverance of thousands of people who have dedicated their lives to the cause of enhanced education and health care. Our wide range of programs offered is a reason for our institutions being the most preferred destination for studies and research. Our collaborations with famous Universities world over have added a new dimension to our legacy as we aspire to bring a global perspective to our curriculum. Our institutes spread across the country exemplifies our efforts to bring the best of educational and medical facilities to people from all backgrounds and thereby contributing to make KLE a global destination for health care and education.

From its modest origins rooted in the sacrifices of its founders, the KLE Society has burgeoned into a formidable entity, overseeing a network of over 309 institutions and 16 hospitals across Karnataka and abroad. These institutions, spanning from kindergarten to post-doctoral research, epitomize a diverse spectrum of academic pursuits, transforming the educational fabric of the region under the visionary leadership of Hon. Chancellor Dr.Prabhakar Kore now, which in itself is an inspirational achievement..

Central to its ethos is the encouragement of individual learning, aimed at catalyzing a paradigm shift in societal mindset and fostering positive change. Presently, more than 138,000 students embark on their academic journeys within these institutions, benefiting from quality education across various disciplines, including Healthcare, Agriculture, Engineering, Information Technology, Law, Fashion Technology, Hotel Management, Tourism Administration, Pharmacy, Homoeopathy, Music, Broadcasting, Nursing, and Business Schools.

Guiding this academic voyage is an esteemed faculty comprising over 18,000 dedicated individuals, unified by a shared zeal for education. In 2006, the KLE Society achieved a significant milestone with the recognition of the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research as a Deemed-to-be-University by the University Grants Commission (UGC). Embracing internationally accepted education and healthcare practices, the University prides itself on its innovative curriculum and commitment to excellence.

Undeterred by challenges, KLE remains steadfast in its mission to provide access to world-class infrastructure for every aspiring learner, irrespective of their background.
