The great visionary efforts of Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Former MP, Chairman of KLE Society since 1985, have been pivotal in deciding to march ahead into a new millennium as an autonomous university, thereby opening up an unexpected horizon in the field of education.

The K.L.E. Academy of Higher Education & Research was established on April 13, 2006, as per the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Notification No.F.9-19/2000-U-R(A) dated April 13, 2006, on the advice  of the University Grants Commission.

Today, the K.L.E. Academy of Higher Education & Research, Belagavi, within 18 years of its inception, has many glorious credentials in the form of its meritorious students; faculty looked upon as peers, and much international collaboration because of the dedication and the unending quest for excellence true to the essence of the K.L.E. Academy of Higher Education & Research, Belagavi.

The K.L.E. Academy of Higher Education & Research, Belagavi, offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, postdoctoral, fellowship programs, and certificate courses in the faculties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Physiotherapy, Homoeopathy and Nursing. The campus is very rich and vibrant with impressive infrastructure, renowned and extensively experienced teaching faculty, a state-of-the-art teaching hospital and medical research center, 2000 beds, and top-notch diagnostic facilities under one roof. The Wi-Fi, digital library, e-learning, and other facilities are on par with the best campuses in the country and abroad. The university is among the very few institutions in the country to boast that the entire campus has Wi-Fi for internet access. Another milestone achieved is the collaboration with MedRC and establishment of the Smart Teach server for students to access the high-quality e-curricular content so that they can learn at their own pace as a supplementary measure to the excellent classroom teaching.

Ever since the establishment of the university, there has been constant growth in exploring new areas in education; e.g., establishment of the department of public health, Department of clinical research, school of music, start of need-based fellowship programs in various specialties, the commencement of a Ph.D. program in health facilities, and inter-disciplinary research are the new endeavors of the university in the span of 18 years of its existence. The existing curriculum is strengthened by integrating information and communication technology (ICT) to meet changing global demands. The university has also incorporated the teaching of Indian Constitution and Environmental Studies to undergraduate students to make them responsible global citizens. To match the concept of the global village of the present era, the K.L.E. Academy of Higher Education & Research, Belagavi, has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) incorporating academic collaborations with ICMR, W.H.O., and several universities in the USA and also in SE Asia.

The K.L.E. Academy of Higher Education & Research, Belagavi, takes a very strict view against any kind of ragging activity, and the entire campus is under strict vigil to prevent any ragging activity. The students on campus are from different countries and different cultures, and all efforts are made for a smooth induction of the students into the campus. For that purpose, student orientation programs and language classes are regularly conducted to enable the students to interact with local patients. Facilities like a bank, post office, pharmacy, gym, indoor stadium; internet access, café, department store, and travel booking facilities are provided on the campus itself.

Calendar of Events delineating the date of the examination schedule, information relating to conduct of meetings and other important curricular events is provided to every student at the beginning of the academic session, thus enabling the students to plan and pace their studies well in advance.
Remedial measures in the form of feedback from the students and bridge courses for slow learners are regular features of the constituent units of the K.L.E. Academy of Higher Education & Research.
